The mission of the Cartilage Repair Center is to continually strive for clinical excellence in patient care. The center uses innovative techniques for restoring cartilage damage that are safe and supported by validated outcomes.

The center focuses on individualized attention and patient need. Patient are entered into a database with their first visit to the center and followed all the way through their postoperative care. Individual educational packets are provided to the patient and other professionals involved with the postoperative care to insure for a continuum of care.

The center provides a full spectrum of care for individuals who suffer from cartilage damage in the knee. A full range of contemporary treatment options are used, to help restore damaged cartilage and to maximize the level of function for the patients.

These treatments range from arthroscopic cleanup to revision total joint repair. Our philosophy is to determine the underlying causes for cartilage damage in the knee and treat the underlying cause of the cartilage damage. A thorough understanding of the predisposing factors associated with the cartilage damage, such as alignment, joint stability and meniscal function needs to be understood and incorporated into any treatment plan if necessary. Treatment options are selected based upon individual need; matching the physical demands of the patient's lifestyle and addressing contributing pathology.

Patient education and follow-up is the cornerstone for the center. Tim Bryant, a registered nurse and patient liaison for the center, provides extensive information to patients during the preoperative phase as well as in the follow-up postoperative recovery period. This information is helpful not only in terms of better preparing patients for the experience of surgery but also in working with physical therapists and other clinical staff around the country to insure the best chance for a success outcome.

The Center is recognized as one of the leading centers for patient care and research in the field of cartilage repair.
