Ankle Pumps
Pump your ankles up and down as often as possible during the day. This helps to improve blood flow in your legs and reduces the risk of thrombosis (blood clot). Continue the exercise for at least the first 2 weeks after surgery.

Quad Sets
With your knee out straight, tighten and relax your quadriceps (thigh) muscle multiple times per day. This reduces the muscle atrophy typically seen after surgery.

Dangling your knee
To avoid losing flexion (bending) of your knee after surgery, dangle your leg over the side of the bed 5 times per day. Use your other leg to support your operative leg. First let it bend by gravity, then place the other leg in front and gently push back for additional bending.
